Two and a half years ago, Phoenix AZ attorney William Westover flew a Cessna out of the Deer Valley airport, headed towards Sedona.  Aboard was a new acquaintance, Marcy Randolph.  They never arrived.

FLIP Member Jayne McElfresh has devoted a tremendous amount of time since then, coordinating efforts to locate Westover, her long time client and friend.  She was joined by many, including the Missing Aircraft Search Team, a group of skilled volunteers that assists in searches long after the official searches have ended.

On April 22, 2009 the search ended.  Our kudos to all the officials and volunteers who worked together to resolve this case, and especially to Jayne for her tireless efforts, and perseverance.  Learn the whole story of  The Search for N2700Q

This is the same seminar that just brought down the house in Los Angeles, and it’s the last time that it will be offered at this ultra-low price.  Get certified to train others, and help your community while building your business.

Human Trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the world. It is second only to the sale in illegal drugs in its scope. Human Trafficking (modern slavery) can be found in every state in the US and every country in the world. In the US anyone can be a victim of human trafficking: men, women, adults, children, US citizens, and non-US citizens.

Dottie Laster was trained by the Department of Justice to train law enforcement, lawyers, medical professionals, etc. on the issues of Human Trafficking. This is a rare opportunity to be trained directly by Dottie. The TVPA law signed into existence in December 2008 requires that organizations receiving grant money to combat Human Trafficking or provide victim services must train their staff on Human Trafficking issues. This training will comply with that legal requirement.

INCLUDED -
Victim identification
Human Trafficking indicators
Interview and investigative techniques
Updates on new Human Trafficking laws
Overview of State and Federal criminal charges

When: Thursday, March 12, 2009
Where: Isaac Generation Church, 10330 Sugar Branch Dr, Houston, TX 77036, 210-882-2259

On Feb 26, 2009, FLIP member Dottie Laster will be in Hollywood, California conducting a one day training seminar on Human Trafficking.  Those attending will in turn become certified to conduct training on this important topic.

New laws make it crucial for business owners, attorneys, investigators, law enforcement and community groups to be educated on trafficking.  Any business, especially one holding a government contract, is at great risk of running afoul of RICO (racketeering laws), civil suits, Department of Labor penalties, and negative publicity.

Some areas covered:

  • Victim identification
  • Human Trafficking indicators
  • Interview and investigative techniques
  • Updates on new Human Trafficking laws
  • Overview of State and Federal criminal charges
  • Attorneys and investigators will learn about new opportunities in both the civil and criminal arenas
  • Businesses will learn how to comply and protect their assets

Human Trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the world. It is second only to the sale in illegal drugs in its scope. Human Trafficking (modern slavery) can be found in every state in the US and every country in the world. Anyone, male, female, child, adult, of any race, can be a victim of human trafficking.  It is happening all around you.  Learn to recognize it and effectively stop it.

Dottie Laster is a US Department of Justice certified trainer on the issue of Human Trafficking.  She has led Human Trafficking task forces, and consulted for law enforcement, attorneys, film and TV producers, and victims of trafficking.

The TVPA law signed into existence in December 2008 requires that organizations receiving grant money to combat Human Trafficking or provide victim services must train their staff on Human Trafficking issues. This training will comply with that legal requirement.

NTCR Investigations’ newest investigator,  Dabby, more formally known as “Dreamcatchers Die Abendrote,” or Red Glow of Sunset, is reportedly doing very well in her training as a land and water cadaver and drug detection dog.

Dabby

Dabby

“She has a very stable temperament, takes everything in stride, talks constantly and is super intelligent.  Of course she is strikingly beautiful and such a combo can’t be beat!”  Says FLIP Member Kakie Moore, who is not only Dabby’s new boss, but also her breeder and trainer, owning both NTCR Investigations and Prize My Eyes labrador breeding facility in St. Martinville, Louisiana.

Of course Dabby has a bit of a headstart.  “She’s just like her daddy, Ammo” declares Moore.  Dabby will also be following in the pawsteps of Koda, who was Moore’s cadaver recovery expert and drug detector until he passed away in October.

On October 25, 2003, Michelle “Angie” Yarnell disappeared from her home in Ivy Bend, Missouri.  Her husband of three years, Mike, claimed that she must have run off with another man.  Their relationship had been troubled.  Angie’s mother, Marianne Asher-Chapman, knew that her daughter, with whom she was very close, would never have left without a word.

Marianne filed a missing persons report, and worked to get media attention.  With the help of local reporter  RaVae Edwards, Marianne was invited to appear on the Montel Show a year later.  That very day, Mike disappeared.

On October 20, 2007, four years after Angie’s disappearance, Marianne was a guest on Todd Matthew’s “Missing Pieces” radio Show.  During the interview Marianne told Todd that ten days after she filed the missing persons report she received a post card, postmarked Harrison, Arkansas, and apparently from Angie, stating that she was with a man named Gary, and would be in touch.  During the broadcast Todd offered to have a handwriting analyst look at the post card.

Knowing that she had used a handwriting analyst with great success in the past, Todd contacted his friend and colleague Vicki Siedow, founder of FLIP.  Vicki in turn put him in touch with FLIP member Peggy Walla, A questioned document examiner, handwriting analyst and private investigator in Columbus, Texas.  Peggy has cracked more than one case for FLIP, and was featured in the Flip Mysteries: Women on the Case premier.

Peggy reported that the post card was not written by Angie.  She believed it to have been written by Angie’s husband Mike.  She further discerned from the writing that Mike had killed Angie, and that if he could be found he would confess and lead authorities to Angie’s body.

Upon receiving Peggy’s report in March, 2008, police began to actively look for Mike Yarnell.  He was picked up in August.  Just as Peggy said, he confessed to having murdered his wife, Angie.  He then led police to her remains.

Our condolences to Angie’s family, and our thanks to Todd Matthews, Vicki Siedow. and especially Peggy Walla for assisting law enforcement in solving yet another case.
